IT seems there is no respite in the ongoing face-off between Eggon nationality and Fulani herdsmen in Nasarawa State, as casualty figure rose to 85, on Wednesday.
While 25 people were killed on Sunday, at Alingani community, 15 were feared dead at Ikposogye, both of Eggon community in Lafia Local Government Area of the state.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that Wednesday invasion of Tundun-Adabu, another Eggon community, in Obi Local Government Area by Fulani herdsmen in conjunction with Alagos, in which 45 people were killed and 65 houses set ablaze, was as a result of attack by Eggons on Alagos at Assakio village on Tuesday night.
A senior police officer confided in the Nigerian Tribune that Eggons alleged that Alagos were harbouring Fulanis in their domain to wreak havoc on them, hence, the need to chase them out completely from the village.
This, it was learnt further infuriated Alagos to support Fulanis and besieged Tuntun-Adabu, around 11.00 a.m. Immediately they invaded the village, according to one of the witnesses, who did not want his name in print,
